Sustainability & Environmental Management

Sustainability questions come up earlier in procurement than they used to. If you report on ESG, or your clients ask how waste from your sites is handled, some of those answers have to come from your contractors.

Medlec Group holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Both are independently audited, and you can check both certificates on the UKAS Check Register.

Where your site waste ends up

Waste from Medlec sites goes through Skip It London. They send us a monthly breakdown of what was collected, how it was sorted and where it went, so we know our recycling rate rather than guessing at it.

In the first half of 2026, 96% of the waste we took from client sites stayed out of landfill. Those are Skip It's tracked figures, not a target we are working towards, and we publish the full breakdown so you can see how it was reached.

Asbestos and other hazardous materials go to specialists with the qualifications and disposal routes that work needs. Electrical waste follows WEEE regulations, so fluorescent tubes, circuit boards, cables and batteries each go where they should.

What ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 mean for you

ISO 14001 covers environmental management; ISO 9001 covers quality. Getting them means having systems in place. Keeping them means those systems get used and reviewed, with someone independent checking.

If your sustainability reporting extends to your supply chain, we are already set up to support it. The waste reports, the WEEE compliance and the audit trail exist because we work that way, so when your auditors ask, the paperwork is ready.

Energy efficiency in the work itself

Certification covers how we run. The other half is what we install.

We fitted a fully electric commercial kitchen for a London venue, taking the site off gas entirely. More operators are looking at going electric, and it changes the electrical installation significantly. Where there is a more efficient way to do a job, we will tell you what it costs and what it saves, and you can decide.
